Cheeseburger Pie

There’s a thing called “Shepherd’s Pie”, a lot of folks make. I like to make a version of that, I call “Cheeseburger Pie”.

You need:

About 4 Cups cooked mashed potatoes

2 cans cut green beans

1 can tomato soup

1-2 pounds ground beef or turkey

Cheese (Velveeta, shredded cheddar, any kind you like really)

Brown ground beef/turkey. In a large casserole dish, mix ground beef, tomato soup, green beans, and cheese. Top with mashed potatoes. Bake uncovered for about 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees.

This can be served with dinner rolls, if you want a little something more to go with.

I’m planning my menu, for the rest of the week. This is one of the things I’m thinking I’ll cook for supper. Just thought I’d share 🙂

  1. Dearest Americans
I made the cheeseburger pie. This is a dish I have never heard of before and likewise we don’t have bisquick and have never heard of that before. I fried off the ground beef (we call it mince) with onion. I added Worcester sauce, American mustard, a little bit of tomato sauce (ketchup) salt, garlic powder till I got that cheeseburger flavour. For the batter on the top I mixed up 1 cup of buttermilk, 1/2 c up of flour, 1 tsp of baking powder, 2 eggs and tablespoon of melted butter. I did a layer of grated (shredded) cheese over the beef and over the batter that I poured over the beef. I found I needed to cook it on 400 for about 35 mins. It was a GREAT hit. I think it will prove to be a favourite. Thanks so much for sharing your food with us. Next is green bean casserole and then chilli and cornbread

  2. Yum. I had a look online and can see there is a cheeseburger pie made with bisquick. Do you do that one? Also I had never heard of green bean casserole before but it seems to be an American fav. How do you make yours? Do you do menu planning so you don’t have to think about dinner all the time? Or to be more cost effective with your shopping. It also feels like maybe during your bad weather that going out shopping as little as possible is safest? Sorry for all the questions but I think that, especially the women, who follow you love the everyday homemaker stuff.

    1. Also, yes I actually have a couple of Bisquick cookbooks! We like mashed potatoes on top, but there is a bisquick recipe too. I make this chicken and dumpling soup with bisquick sometimes. My daughter loves it! I’ll share that recipe one day soon too 😉
