This morning, I went to the grocery store, and got some things we needed. While I was there, my phone rang. It was Mj. I can’t describe the panic I feel, when one of my babies calls me on their mobile phone, from school. My mind immediately goes to the worst case scenario…there’s someone in the school hurting the kids. I’m a big supporter of our 2A rights, here in America, but that doesn’t mean I don’t fear for my children’s safety. I do not support or condone using weapons to harm innocent victims. Having said all that, she wanted socks. I just got her some new tennis shoes. The ones I bought her, in August, were completely worn out. The socks she wore were too low, so the back of her shoes were cutting into the backs of her ankles. I brought her some socks.
I vacuumed, swept, and mopped all the main floor. I baked some Valentine cookies, too.

It looks like we’re going to get some rain, later this afternoon. We decided to have Adam grill our chicken tomorrow, instead of today. I’m going to make spaghetti and meatballs for supper, tonight. I like to make “homemade garlic bread”. I just take some hamburger or hotdog buns and pull them apart. I melt some butter and garlic powder, and then brush that onto the buns. I’ll add some Italian cheese to the top sometimes, too. I bake them in the oven for about 10 minutes, and they come out perfectly delicious!
Jackie’s sister should be here soon. I’m going to help her curl her hair. She has a date, tonight. Adam and I are going out to eat, with Jackie and Justin, this weekend. Mj went with Justin to get Jackie’s Valentine’s gift, last weekend. He’s so good with my kids. He had a baby Yoda, in his truck. Mj loves baby Yoda. He gave it to her, and she sleeps with it every night now.
I have music playing. My iTunes account has an insane variety of genres. I just heard a “Hollywood Undead” song. Now, “Speak Life”, by Toby Mac is playing. That’s a Christian song. Yep, that’s me. All over the place.
I like “Speak Life”. I have not heard the song but I need to learn to change the way I talk. A more positive approach to life is something I need but it takes some
work and time to attain it.
I “tasted” ( in my mind,) your cookies and they are great. Just the.right sweetness,!
Thanx for sharing,! Happy Valentine’s Day!

I try very hard to find the good around me. You never know what others might be going through, either. Sharing a smile, small talk, a simple compliment can make someone else’s entire day. It also makes me feel good. Walking in the world doing my best to spread kindness also helps heal my own hurts. It’s amazing what a positive attitude can do for us!

Those cookies look amazing. So cute it must have been scary to take that call from Mj after she was in lockdown previously. The 2a rights is so interesting. In New Zealand we banned semi automatic, assault rifles and military type weapons after our 2019 terrorist attack. It is and was not normal for the average New Zealander to have a gun. They need to be secured at all times and used under controlled setting.. like on the farm, on a shooting range, hunting, or at home. Pistols require a really special licence that is hard to get and lots more rules around them. You are not allowed to carry a loaded weapon anywhere the public has access and can only carry an unloaded weapon from the gun shop to home or from home to a hunting block. We are having more firearm incidents in NZ but in 2021 we only had 11 people die of firearms incidents by murder or manslaughter. Of course that is still 11 people who lost their lives and were loved by others. I always find it so interesting how different we are as countries, how much history shapes who we are today and yet how much we are similar and have in common. I always find your posts make me think about that!!! You garlic bread sounds so yummy and perfect with meatballs!!! Our cyclone is over and the sun is out. So good to be in the still quiet warmth. Now on with all the washing 😩

Glad y’all got some sunshine! We’ve got a storm coming in late tomorrow night and into Thursday. This time of year it floods here often. We had a big tornado in Nashville, a few Springs ago. No power for almost a whole week. Looking back, we grilled with our neighbors, made coffee over a fire. We walked the neighborhood picking up trash and gathered tree limbs to pile up. It actually turned into a sweet memory. It was rough at the time though!

Eve, that would be a scary situation for anyone even an adult so much more for a child. You are right to worry about your children, you do so much to keep them safe and they should always be safe in school. Glad you like the song. Sir 🙂

I’m fairness, my daughter called me just a few months ago. They were on lockdown, but didn’t know WHAT was happening outside her classroom. Their teacher had them flip their desks and get behind them. The teacher explained that, if someone gets through that door, they can use anything around them to throw or hit them with. Mj called me, absolutely terrified. It turned out, a student had pulled a knife out on the security guard there. These aren’t great big kids, but a knife wielding child is still a reason to worry. Nobody was harmed, thank God! That incident has made me much more fearful of daytime phone calls from my babies, though.
